A hot breakfast. A better school day.
We are tremendously pleased to share the success of the Breakfast Program, and our heartfelt thanks to faithful partners—because of your generosity, children begin the day with nourishment and hope.
Nourishment today, resilience tomorrow
Students and parents deeply appreciate the support. Workdays brought together parents, students, community members, and staff to build a chicken coop to help sustain the program. Students learned to grow vegetables and ground provisions, and the school garden placed first in the parish competition and third nationally.
Support during COVID-19
When schools closed, breakfast-program students were deeply affected. Online classes were challenging without phones, laptops, tablets, or reliable internet. Teachers walked through the community delivering lessons and results so that students not online could continue learning.
Concerned for these children and their families, we organized care packages. A friend in California, Vicky Fortson, sent the first US$100 and rallied support alongside Danny and Ayana Barrett. With additional donors, we purchased grocery items for care packages for sixty-one students and their families.
Aims and objectives
- Reach a fundraising target of US$5,000 (J$650,000).
- Build a chicken coop for 150 birds to provide eggs and help sustain daily feeding.
- Create full-time employment for two people to maintain the farm, supported by community volunteers.
